Vogue Fashion night

Vogue is having a Fashion Night on September 13 in collaboration with the Bijenkorf, one of  Amsterdam biggest and most beautiful stores. What an amazing shop window at the Bijenkorf this is. I love the reflection of the houses in the window.... those are the moments I love living the city live.

raw + minimalistic {fashion art by Petra Lunenburg}

The day after the Meet the blogger event last June. Some other bloggers and myself had a little afterparty in Amsterdam and I showed them some of my favorite concept stores in town. {If you are coming to Amsterdam as well have a look at my other website Amsterdamnext.com where you will find my personal city guide}

Anyway... At Options my eye caught a little booklet with drawings of
Petra Lunenburg Nina made a nice moodboards with her Hazy Dolls booklet and other objects. Here are some of her posters and other work, as well as some pictures I made later exhibition at Fashion concept store Sprmrkt.

SPRMRKT

SPRMRKT

Petra Lunenburg ( 1974) born Nijmegen, The Netherlands. Graduating as fashion designer at ARTEZ Arnhem in 1996, she has since been working as a graphic designer and illustrator for fashion labels, magazines as well as for her own brand IL’L. Focusing on illustration over the last few years she has developed as a fine artist creating a highly feminine, free and suggestive style. Her distinctive signature whose raw minimalistic abstraction creates a sense of ambiguity, influenced from both fashion and fine art history such as René Bouché and Egon Schiele.... read more

Karl Lagerfeld

I thought the little cut out portrait of Karl Lagerfeld on this building side along one of the canals looked really cute, like an unexpected piece of sophistication in an total mess.

This is a picture I made of a drawing on the wall of Stock the restaurant next to Amsterdam concept store Options. In Amsterdam we have a say 'rare vogels' meaning 'strange birds' The Damrak where Options is located has lots of Strange birds passing by...

So when the building of Hotel Exchange with its concept store Options and its restaurant Stock was finished. All people who had been involved were asked to draw a 'strange bird on the wall of Stock. Hotel Exchange being a fashion boutique Hotel concept, all bird are fashion related too.

Kate Moss is doing très bien

It seems I am talking a lot about clothes racks these days. I recently wrote about how to customize your coat rack Behind the coat rack there was a big poster ... a bit like I did behind my own with smaller images. Today I got an email from Biggi about how she used that post and pictures to make her own corner. I love to receive mails like that, because after all it is all about inspiration.

After reading, she rushed out to the Swedish friends to get the same clothes rack. She did not had a big New York City poster she told, but I think this has even more style... As she says in her post Kate Moss is doing 'très bien'  I think so too..

Coffee + Boots + Coatracks

Picture by Ashley Faye + an unknown source
The other day I was having a coffee break with my daughter... I love how she sometimes text me with coffee? But this day she asked me if I was ready to see her new tattoo. I thought it was amazing and what a cool lady she is to stay on the tattoo chair for over 6 hours. And there I am thinking about a 7 letter word only for ages.... but anyway

I treasure those little chats we have about everything and nothing... jumping from how good the coffee tastes to using studs as decoration and how cool her boots, decorated with old belts, look. We talk about books... music, summer holidays and photographs, such as the one of her other tattoo and those amazing neon letters... what is keeping us busy in life and in our homes. In my case that is painting lockers this last weekend and rearranging coat rack corners.... I am so happy with some little changes I made and will make an update of it really soon. It is looking cool .... if I may say so hehe..... Enjoy your day AND your coffee ;)
