VT Wonen home {back in 2007}

Cleaning out old files on my computer I came across some pictures I made in 2007 at the 'Woonbeurs' It was way before I even started the blog so I never showed them on here. The pictures are made at the upper floor of the VT Wonen home. It was a beautiful some kind of outdoor space with a kitchen in grey and reclaimed wood and a long zinc bassin, all very basic and natural. Forgive me for my photographing skills back then and the small and strange proportioned pictures. But I still think this rooftop was really charming.

Today the New VT Wonen arrived with the Woonbeurs special in it. This year will be the 20th edition of this Dutch exibition for indoor and outdoor living. If you can make it to Amsterdam between September 25 -30, I think you should definitely bring a visit. Under the 'woonbeurs' tag you can find some more pictures I made over the last years.

Skulls + Stuff boxes {cheap styling ideas for little corners! }

Since those real cute stuff boxes from Danish brand HAY are not for sale in any shop in my hometown I thought about some alternatives to make them myself. So I bought a simple shop-window display and made my own... I love to change things around my coat rack, that I still love to bits! I think displaying things in shiny little boxes give them something special and it lightens op this little corner

The shoes I bought on Queens day for 50 eurocent and they are purely for decoration, I thought they were looking well Rock&Roll with the little skulls on them ;) I have a bit of a soft spot for accessories with skulls, like wallets and cute shirts from Zadig & Voltaire.
Those simple shoes might end up being displayed in a shiny box as well one day.

Creative spaces #2

In some former posts I showed you some creative spaces like this gorgeous one. And I found some more,  but with a totally different feeling.... less polished and not as clean and fresh as the images I showed before. Nevertheless I think there are happening great things in these rooms. Also ..... I am seriously starting to like those lights used in the fourth picture I think they would look great in my home!

These shots were made by Karine from Bodie and Fou, who stays at my home for some days for the meet the blogger 2012 event and to do some work from my home. She brought some of the home accessories from her concept store Bodie and Fou with her and styled them with my home as a background. Beside working we had lots of time to catch up, shopping and eating pizza and drinking wine with some Norwegian bloggers yesterday.

Today we were at the meet the blogger event with 120 other bloggers from all over Europe. I loved to meet so many of the old blog friends from last years meeting and to meet new people with the same passion. The presentation Frida of Trendenser gave was really inspiring and I think we all loved her story... You can read more of it at the Meet the Blogger site. Frida also revealed her first I-Pad magazine, from today available at the apple store. After the event we went out for dinner with 17 people and spent the rest of the evening talking and getting to know each other. A great and productive weekend so far.

Kate Moss is doing très bien

It seems I am talking a lot about clothes racks these days. I recently wrote about how to customize your coat rack Behind the coat rack there was a big poster ... a bit like I did behind my own with smaller images. Today I got an email from Biggi about how she used that post and pictures to make her own corner. I love to receive mails like that, because after all it is all about inspiration.

After reading, she rushed out to the Swedish friends to get the same clothes rack. She did not had a big New York City poster she told, but I think this has even more style... As she says in her post Kate Moss is doing 'très bien'  I think so too..

Inspiring mood boards {a real life story}

When I recently sold some things online I had this weird experience that when the buyer came to pick it up and saw my kitchen, told me she had a picture of it with the big black star on her fridge... it felt a bit weird but I also thought it was very cute when she told me my home was an inspiration to her. I mentioned it many times before, but I really think it is a great thing we can inspire other people through our blogs and maybe even help them to develop their own taste. It is fun to see how it works and to sometimes recognize little things in the homes of others. Just the same or with their own twist given to it. 

I truly believe trying things out in your home is the way to develop your taste and find your own style. Of course I also get inspired myself by everything around me in real life and online and I play along all the time with furniture and images. I really loved the post from Lisanne, who recently started her blog, where she showed the mood board she made with images she loved from the blogs that inspire her. thanks for including me Lisanne.

customize your coat rack

At home I love to change little things in the bedroom, where I like the combination of industrial pieces and fashion pictures. No news that I am a big fan of clothes racks, see my previous post: Create some parisian chic at home. At home I have a huge poster standing on the floor and some pictures above and behind my hanging clothes rack. Also big posters work out really well, such as the NYC poster used in this setting. 

With the MULIG Clothes rack (I just looked it up and it does not cost more then 9 euro or 10 dollar) you can customize your own look... here it is pimped up with some hemp string in a natural color. But of course you can add what ever you like, black string, masking tape or paint it in your favorite color. I am thinking about fluor pink and black chalkboard walls here or just some cool black and white stripes.  If you have a clothes rack at home I would love to see it, mail me your pictures.

Dots + Lamps

Ever since being back from that fun and inspirational trip to Paris last summer I still have some ideas to work out I got there... One of the ideas for my bedroom I realized right after coming back and I am still enjoying it everyday. Although a lot around it has changed as well since I made this Inspired by Paris post.

So then there was Milano.... I wrote some keywords in my big fat Moleskin when coming back from Milano of what impressed me most and what I thought to have seen in many different places and forms. After a trip like this I think you will use these ideas somehow and one day give your own turn to all what you have seen.

It might have been Corso Como 10 and the limited edition of Paola Navone from my previous post that made me buy these little outdoor paper laterns with the little dots on it at the Hema. And then suddenly last night I thought I should take of all the plastic and change them into real lamps for my kitchen project... a project that involves many small different little lamps that I am trying to find over the last 8 months.

My collection is slowly growing and I am waiting patiently till the moment is there I think it is the perfect imperfect mix that suits my feeling. The picture below I found at Pelle's blog this morning and I think it says it all.. be you ;)

Today the apartments were open to the public and Paulina and I visited one of them today and made some pictures.

Creative spaces

Although I love my own little white studio and the little shelves I added to the wall to expose my pictures. I do like to change it all around when I see the pictures of these creative spaces. I love the clean feeling of these rooms and the use of black and white in furniture and in the images on the wall.
